Legalize Marijuana Now!

germany is good example, people are responseble for themself. problem is you can't buy it legaly. that makes it unsafe.

How could we implement this kind of change here? (In the US)

I can never understand why alcohol is legal as it does far more damage than pot. Which, by the way, is legal in Holland.

For those who still say "But you would never be able to tax it!!", here's why you can:

After prohibition, the government was easily able to tax alcohol. The same would be true for marijuana because:
1. You Could Buy it for Less at stores. Companies that produce your alcohol can use efficient techniques, ship it in large quantities, and compete with other companies. When people were making moonshine, they risked going to jail. They raised their prices because of this risk. Now if marijuana were legalized, it would also be a lot cheaper.

2. You get Better Quality. With someone on the street, you have no idea what you're getting. It could be decent or taste like crap. That's why people preferred to go to stores where they knew the drink was good and there wasn’t any chance that they’d get sick.

3. You Don’t go to Jail. Customers would rather not risk buying the stuff and then getting arrested for possession. That's why they would prefer stores, where it would be legal.

The problem is this: Alcohol and tabacco may give you some nasty diseases, and marijuana isn't exactly free of health problems. Alcohol and tabacco's illnesses are a bit more tangible, with cancer, high cholestrol, heart disease etc. for tabacco, and liver disease/failure etc. for alcohol. marijuana can cause paranoia, and can bring out genetic tendencies to mental disease.
Legalizing the stuff would increase the amount of people doing it, which would put a strain on the NHS, and raise taxation / take away spaces for people who didn't have a choice in their mental diseases.
In fact, the main reason why I refuse to even touch the stuff is the tendency towards Bipolar disorder in my family.

It's only dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. I'm Dutch. We know how it works, we know how to get it, we know how to handle it. I honestly think keeping it illegal and keeping people uneducated on it is more dangerous than having it be legal.

i cant even beleive you would even say that if you do marijauna then i dont even want to say what you are all i am happy about is that i am not one and i am a healthy girl in which a program called dare made that decision for me so if are a marijauna smoker that sucks for you!

Marijuana rarely brings out genetic diseases like that and it should be up to the user to decide if the risk is great enough because of their family history rather than the government.

All I know is that it makes you dumb as hell. If you don't think it does than.......well it's probably already burnt too many of your brain cells. And to tell the truth we already have enough stupid people in America we don't need anymore.

habitual use has its draw backs, memory loss, etc etc, but lots of things your own doctor can give you do the same thing(s). My problem is as a recreational drug i have to dissagree with its use. As a medical drug I have to agree with its use. I've seen first hand what it does to people who gat addicted too it for "fun" and i've seen how it helps people with their pain. I'm kinda on the fence, i know what the laws are and I follow them, i would vote to legalize it for the medical benifits.

Screw that, last thing we need is a more unproductive pot heads. The liberals here are taxing enough on our society.
