Top 5 People You can 'Put to Death' According to the Bible

(Title changed from 'Kill' to 'Put to Death' to make wisemen happy)

Christians have it easy. The Bible spells out exactly who they can kill and why. Here are the top 5 just for fun along with their literary references.

5. Stubborn or Rebellious Child
Deut 21:20-21

They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard." Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.

4. Those who do not believe in your God
Deut 13:6-11

If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known, gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him. You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people. Stone him to death, because he tried to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again.

3. Those who dare to work on Sunday
Ex 35:2

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.

2. A Woman who is not a virgin when married
Deut 22:13-21

If a man takes a wife and, after lying with her, dislikes her and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, "I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,"  then the girl's father and mother shall bring proof that she was a virgin to the town elders at the gate. The girl's father will say to the elders, "I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. Now he has slandered her and said, 'I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.' But here is the proof of my daughter's virginity." Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, and the elders shall take the man and punish him. They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the girl's father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.

If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the girl's virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done a disgraceful thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father's house. You must purge the evil from among you.

1. And everyone's favorite - Homosexuals
Lev 20:13
If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

"top 5 you can KILL"
The word Kill is not the same as capital punishment, which is what these verses are refering too.
to Kill someone as you have posted is to murder someone in cold blood (no justice, no rightful reason)
To punish someone(the electric chair) for "Murder" is not cold blooded killing, it is called justice served.

Ok wisemen, so find the version of the Bible where is uses the phrase 'punish them' instead of 'put to death.' This is supposedly the word of God is it not? Seems that he ought to be able to clearly communicate with the creatures he created?

innteresting to note that all those verses came from the old testament. Jesus changed the way the Jews were supposed to act, worship and serve. That it why the jews hated him and had him killef The only reason Christians still read the old testament is to reference the new testament. Jesus said you not supposed to kill anybody.

If someone in that category commits murder, hang 'em high. Simple as that.

old testament - Christians? With the old testament there are connections with Christianity but I wouldnt go as far to say Christians have it easy bc of these verses. These are Jewish scriptures, times have changed, ask a rabbi about this not so much a Christian, a rabbi would know about the Torah and ur interpretation about this. I believe ur really interpreting this pourly, think about it if people of this faith went around killing because thats what the scripture is "literally" telling us to; well what about that one commandment that tells us not to commit murder? Contradiction some say, but no; ur interpretation!

This is completely void of any relevancy with Christians. Christians believe in the Old Testament, but what Jesus said trumps the Old Testament. And he clearly said "he who has not sinned throw the first stone."

So the Bible is the word of God, but the Old Testament is wrong about some things? Then Jesus came and fixed these wrong impressions? So why do we still keep the Old Testament around? Is it so that we can just take the good lessons from it that we like and ignore those that we don't like? If we are going to pick and choose what is right and wrong in the Bible, then don't we already have an inherent sense of morals? So why have a Bible? Is it just for history lessons about the origins of Christianity? Wow, that was a lot of questions. But I'm here to learn, so help me out if you can. Thanks!

We obey everything said in the Old Testament that Jesus didn't tell us to do differently.

I'm so tired of this argument. The Jews had a way of interpreting God's laws as they saw fit. They took many of their laws to extreme and the way they used to get forgiveness was through sacrifice. They got out of control and started to fall away from God and started to self worship. Soooooo, God sent His Son to give the Jews an easier way of worship and teach them the err of their ways. Only the Jews didn't believe Jesus, and so they killed him. The point of keeping the Old Testament is to show what Jesus changed and most importantly, show the prophecy of Jesus. The stories in the Old Testament mean nothing without the new testament, and vice versa. If you don't read the Bible as a whole, you run the risk of taking things out of context. It's like reading only the beginning of a sentence, or the beginning of a book, then asking why you don't understand it.
