I don't get why "apologizing for our success" is bad.

That's the rhetoric of republicans, Obama apologizing to the world that we're powerful and you're not. Have you really thought about what WE have done to other countries to gain our "power"? Have you thought about why we're at war with extremist Muslim groups? Probably might be because the US and Europe might had plenty to do with that. All our "power" is exploiting opportunities like cheap labor and vast oil reserves. Is that something to be proud of? You all are ok buying products, here, in the United States that was made in Indonesia or China or Taiwan and not in the US? Or our gas, did it all come from the United States, NO! We used our"power" to get it cheaper else where and leave American jobs up to cheap labor. That's 100% American.

If you are republican, you are taught to live in fear. The insecurity that this breeds evolves into issues like "I wanna live in my cave with my guns for protection because those big bad commies are out there..." They are stuck in the 50's. Why do you think Tea Partiers are 80% white, middle-aged and from the south?

The United States of America—five percent of the world’s population—leads the world economically, militarily, scientifically, and culturally—and by a spectacular margin. Any one of these achievements, taken alone, would be cause for enormous pride. To dominate as we do in all four arenas has no historical precedent. That we have achieved so much in so many areas is due—due entirely—to the structure of our society as outlined in the Constitution of the United States.

We have no reason to apologize to anyone, ever!
