Great classroom lesson in Socialism!

The only problem with the status quo is that people are dying for lack of health care.

Where does it say I must donate to anyone's health. Charity is a wonderful thing but not allowed by the Constitution.

Come on, Cindy, if the individual States want to start health care that is fine but it cannot be subsidized by the federal gov. Try to remember that, please!

The only reason we *have* to is to keep disease off our streets A. Are you really so selfish that you care nothing about anyone but yourself? If you are too selfish to help pay for others, how do you keep our cities disease-free? Do you feel the same about education? Should all those who can't afford pricey private schools be kept ignorant?

If you can't work for want you want (which we have been doing for over 200+ years) you don't need it. I refuse to pay for your lack of planning for your own education, buying your own house, or because you have a lousy work ethic.

Get a fracking job! Anything else is Socialism and America did not become great via socialism, it became great due to CAPITALISM, so don't start begging for the "under privileged" (which is another word for SLACKER) because you want to "HELP" them.

And you overlook the obvious --- these great ideals that you hold onto have resulted, in the past 8 years, in millions of people who WANT to work but there are not jobs. So your solution is what -- they can all die and get sick because they're lazy?

i live in rural west virginia and am fully aware what is going on in the real world were real people work their butts off a real jobs and suffer at the hands of a real stupid democrat controled government. what is so sad is that the liberal NY-LA fantasy land were it is chic to denegrate those who want keep a little of what they worked hard for. you idolize music, sports and movie stars how have outrageous incomes and do nothing more than throw "awareness concerts" that costs everybody but themselves. meanwhile you villify corporation and business that create the real jobs and pay the real bills.

The people who can't get good health care get sick care in ERs and hospitals across the country. Often by the time they show up there, they are half dead.
Who pays for that care? You and I do, in increased medical charges and taxes.

I was told by doctors 10 years ago I would be in a wheelchair and never work again within 5 years. Two weeks later that same doctor sent me back to work and I was fired for being unable to perform my duties. In spite of them I have worked my tail end off and made it through nursing school watching hundreds of examples of people who either have no health care or inadequate care get treated in hospitals for preventable conditions. They are sicker than people with the same conditions but better insurance. Many of these people are hard workers. I am a hard worker, but life doesn't cut everyone a break. I have everything go wrong that could. If some thing is supposed to go one way, a wrench is thrown in and things go another way. Still, I go on. I fully support the health care reform. The thing you seem to be over looking is that England passed this bill just after WW2 when nothing was intact. Most of europe has coverage like this. They include education with it. They treat people with kindness. Know what they get back? Healthier, smarter, more peaceful nations. How is that bad?

Great story Rebemomma. The only answer to your question is power, greed and control. The anti-healthcare reform people in today's society are selfish and live is a world where they assume that economic theory will work. It would be great if everyone was healthy. Everyone worked hard and everyone had access to a good job. But instead of working towards that, Republicans just want to make life cushy for the fortunate and could care less about the unfortunate.

What is REALLY hypocritical and funny is that the Republican party has coddled the christian right as though they are the great saviors of goodness and ethics yet Jesus would NEVER have acted as they do. He would have sacrificed everything for the less fortunate. It is so clear that their message is about selfishness, greed and power.

What have liberals proposed that would bankrupt you RW? I know that I nearly lost everything as a result of failed Republican policies of the last 8 years. So far, Obama has given 300B in tax cuts. Isn't that what all your conservatives want?

were exactly are these tax cuts?? specifically? and i don't want to here about elction payoffs to unions or stimulus money that turned into the bamster's personal slush fund. all i have heard from him is how he is going to bankrupt coal companies, fine small business for not purchasing health insurance, and taxing "cadillac" plans unless your union. he has threatened us with prison if we did not buy into his "health program" i guess that is a tax break cause you won't have any income while your in jail so ta-da no taxes; and (breathless) you will be on the government dole for everything INCLUDING health care. again were are these great tax cuts???

A and RW how about you read up on the history of the insurance industry. Find out how health care costs got to be where they are today, then come back and have a civilized discussion about this. I would be happy to give you a link if you need it.
