Windows 7 is downright amazing!

I installed the Release Candidate of Windows 7 on my computer at the end of last month, and before, I used to have windows XP pro. And my computer is now 6 years old and I replaced its motherboard after it passed on a few months ago. So far, Windows 7, for what this operating system can do, runs so smoothly than when I had XP home and pro versions.

But the only thing that's giving me an issue is my graphics card that is pretty old and I have to replace it, but fortunately, I was intending to replace it anyway.

Microsoft finally got this one right!

I'm going to buy 7 Ultimate when it comes out, but I have until March of next year to buy. That's when bi-hourly shut downs occur. I seriously recommend people using XP to just upgrade to 7. But if you have XP, it'll do a clean install, but it gave me an option to create a new folder called Windows.old that still have all of my remaining files that were in XP. And gamers too, Windows 7 allows DirectX 11 to be installed on any video cards that is DX 9 or 10 capable, so it's a bonus.

I don't have Windows Areo theme running since my video card doesn't support it, but from what I've seen in 7, it will probably blow my mind.

I've been running Windows 7 on my computer here at work since the early Beta release, and have been pleasantly surprised by it. It's not a whole lot of change from Vista, which is to be expected since it's essentially running on the Vista kernel. The cool thing was that even the beta of Windows 7 had fewer bugs in it than Vista did. Now I've got the RC, and it still seems to be running smoothly. I think with more software becoming available for the Vista kernel, things are running a bit smoother.

Also, Aero is pretty cool to have and see, but the novelty quickly wore off, at least on me. I do like the mouse-over previews of items on your task bar, but I never used the flip-through slide feature.

I certainly hope 7 doesn't turn out to be the flop that Vista was, and from what I'm seeing so far, it won't be.
