Can you see the difference between a lowly subject on a web site and a major political figure? Palin is the laughing stock of the Republican party. Even her 'loyal' followers in Alaska dumped her when she couldn't compete on a national stage and basically embarrassed Alaska. Did you see the William Shatner 'poetry' version of her speech? It was so rambling it sounded like she was high on good Alaskan weed. I feel really sad for a national political party when this is the best they can do.

Whenever we allow "the will of the people" to trump individual rights we have a tyrrany. Whenever we have a tyrrany people die at the hands of the state for "ideological" reasons.

The health plan, like the energy plan before it, are simply tools to impose the will of the state upon the individual. If either of these bills go through as proposed the American people will become subjects of the state. Individual freedoms - our "natural rights" - will be lost until such time as the individuals that make up this great nation decide to reclaim them.

That's odd Luther. is the federal highway system an attempt to impose the will of the state upon the people or an attempt to help the people?

Health care and highways? You aren't even in the right ballpark.

They are services provided by the government to it's people. Period. All this other nonsense is gibberish. Think about it. you can easily compare the two. Or how about education. We have private roads and public roads. We have private education and public education. Why not private healthcare and public healthcare. That is what Obama is offering.

I don't think there are private roadways in the United States. There are roadways that are built by private companies that have tolls but are eventually given to the public. It's like lease to build, municipalities do this. They have a private company build a facility the municipality needs but instead of paying for the building up front it is leased until the cost is paid and the ownership is given to the municipality.

Roads, like police and fire services, benefit the community as a whole. They save the community substantial disruption in that several privately owned and operated services such as those would make life pure hell. Years ago fire departments DID operate independently and whole city blocks would burn because big dudes from one department would block the fire plug from other responding companies so that their company could get the job of putting out the fire (I'm pretty sure that the term "plug ugly" stems from this).

Health care, like education, benefits the individual to a far greater extent than it does the community as a whole. The community can and will continue "business as usual" with multiple private schools and health providers. Nobody will be seriously inconvenienced because a specific doctor will only treat certain people because there can easily be an abundance of doctors available. Same goes for education.

Obama may well think that he's helping the health care situation but, by limiting the options that both providers and consumers have the overall quality and quantity of care will, by necessity, also be more limited. You can't get more water out of a hose by kinking it up and you can't get more medical care out of a system that is more restrictive.

It is called yellow-dog politics. They'd rather vote for a yellow dog than the other side. It is what the right has been propagating since 1995 when Karl Rove got involved in national politics.

Those of us that support Sarah Palin - and there are LOTS of us - do so because she is one of very few political figures that continue to hold individual rights above those of the collective. She understands that each person is unique and has individual needs and desires. She understands the difference between interdependence and collectivism. She understands that when each individual is encouraged to succeed on their own that they naturally cooperate with other individuals to achieve their mutual goals. She understands that this synergistic force produces better results more efficiently than any strictly managed path will be capable of.
