Why not let them kill themselves?
All Americans care about is winning anyway. Who cares if athletes want to kill themselves trying? Is taking Steroids any worse than young female gymnasts pushing their bodies so hard that they often don't develop as women properly?

we have rules and regulations in this country, in this world and we have to adhere to some of them. If one athlete takes steroids, others are forced to take them as well to be competitive.
However when an athlete pushes their body to a point naturally, the competition has equal chance to win.

It seems that what Americans care about is a fair fight. If a professional baseball player wants to develop female secondary sex characteristics and have a washed up, weak body in their late 40's or early 50's, I could care less. But if they furthered their career by using steriods, they should have consequences. And if the young female gymnasts are breaking the rules, kick them out too! It's their choice regarding what to do with their bodies, but if they choose not to follow the rules, that choice should prohibit them from competing.

my daughter is a competitive gymnast. While she does spend long hours in the gym, she is happy ,healthy, and not sitting in front of a computer or the tv. She is also dedicated, self controlled, and an outstanding student. Go look at the bodies of most gymnasts. They aren't undernourished.

I think i have to agree with you. Football players choose to incur head injuries that can cause brain damage and terrible disabilities in later life, but they're paid millions to do it. Plenty of athletes train under intense and dangerous conditions to push themselves further. Actors may take drugs or purposely do unhealthy activities to fit a role better and we all know models take diet pills or become bulimic to lose weight. All of these things are very dangerous to one's health, yet they all happen and most of it is legal. So if an athlete wants to take drugs to increase his physical abilities, then why not? Let's face it, much of professional sports is talent that you are born with. Why shouldn't another person with less physical ability be able to take steroids to compete at that level if he is willing to sacrifice his safety?
