Global Warming a Scientific Hoax

Global warming is happening. But the world has always gone through cycles and this is just another one. The amount humans have contributed is negligible.

the ice caps are melting more than they ever have and we are seeing record extremes caused by out neglagence to use fossil fuels

This is a synopsis from National Geographic News:
"Earth is currently experiencing rapid warming, which the vast majority of climate scientists says is due to humans pumping huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. In 2005 data from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey missions revealed that the carbon dioxide "ice caps" near Mars's south pole had been diminishing for three summers in a row.
Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of space research at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says the Mars data is evidence that the current global warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun.

"The long-term increase in solar irradiance is heating both Earth and Mars," he said. Changes in the sun's heat output can account for almost all the climate changes we see on both planets. an-made greenhouse warming has made a small contribution to the warming seen on Earth in recent years, but it cannot compete with the increase in solar irradiance," Abdussamatov said.

By studying fluctuations in the warmth of the sun, Abdussamatov believes he can see a pattern that fits with the ups and downs in climate we see on Earth and Mars. These fluctuations change the tilt of Earth's axis and its distance from the sun and are thought to be responsible for the waxing and waning of ice ages on Earth. The solar irradiance began to drop in the 1990s, and a minimum will be reached by approximately 2040," Abdussamatov said. "It will cause a steep cooling of the climate on Earth in 15 to 20 years."
My opinion, global warming is cyclical and in THIS cycle humans are responsible for contributing to the process. To what extent, I am not sure.
The lease on my car is up and I need to purchase a new automobile. (No public transportation is available where I live but a few of us do carpool). I am looking at hybrid cars but I must be honest that the reason is due to the high gas prices. If gas still cost $1.35/gallon as it did 7 yrs ago, I would probably be basing my decision primarily on safety/how well built the car is.
I also think humans do not want to accept the fact that we will not always be here. We will have our time, and then evolution will do its thing....

The only people who believe that humans are responsible for global warming are the ones who live in big cities. These are the same people who go to the mountains "for the fresh air." Global means the air is bad everywhere, and that is just not the case. Mt. St. Helens spewed more dust and carbon dioxide into the air when it exploded than ALL of the carbon dioxide, soot, dust and dirt that man has EVER produced in the short time we've been here since the discovery of fire. Oh, and emz? The south pole is experiencing GROWTH of it's ice cap- can you explain that? Yes there probably IS global warming going on, but it is a natural phenomina and those of you who believe that buying a prius is going to change that are just being sold a bill of goods by the Al Gore's of the world who only really want your money. Wise up, buy whatever you want. Stay alive.

There is no doubt there is global warming. The hotly-debated question is how much human activity has contributed to it. Instead of arguing why don't we find some solutions? Even the doubting Thomases are going to benefit from a less polluted world...

do any of you global warming proponents actually research it? Did you all know that the warmest year in the last century was 1939 and two other years in the last 1930's made it into the top ten? Please review the evidence before screaming that the sky is falling.

We may not be causing it, but we are not helping either. We have the ability to make change. We have several different technologies that could take over the fossil fuel co2 bconcerns.
It would create new jobs and career oppurtunities. It would allow us to break our addiction to the middle easts oil. But all the industries that are the worst, also are some of the biggest lobbyists. So we probably won't see any change until "we the people" demand it!!

If it was all a "natural" process it would not be happening this fast and in perfect conjunction with the doubling of humans' population. The looming mass extinction and the islands of trash floating in the oceans are not part of any cycle, there is nothing natural about the way we all live. Just ONE of us can pump tons of trash into the air in our lifetime.. but since it's *invisible gasses* the simple people can't imagine it.
I have a lot of AP articles from the 70's (OVER THIRTY YEARS AGO) telling precisely what people are starting to finally understand now, after it's almost too late to clean up what we've done.

How can anyone look at the satellite pictures of Earth at night and still insist that humans are like teeny insignificant ants?

I've read that all the planets in this solar system is getting hotter from the inside out! Google it.
