RIAA Hacked!

The war is getting bigger. The RIAA website was hacked and wiped out!

The RIAA continues to try to stop piracy while the rest of the world has now decided that DRM is dead. There are some interesting social issues here.

If we continue to steal art, will artists continue to create it? Does anyone have any decent ideas for promoting art without copy-protection? The folks at

http://www.publishmymusic.com

are trying a new approach. Forget the kids. What do adults think? I buy a lot of music on itunes because it is inexpensive and convienent. But I want to be able to put it on all my devices once I've purchased it.

What do you think?

I buy stuff from iTunes, and I want to be able to use it as I please where I please. Not allowing that does encourage seeking entertainment elsewhere...

I totally think it is AMAZING that I can contact and in some situations become a "friend" of someone that just a few years ago would normally never have the chance. The internet has made you and I closer and given you and me and millions of others the opportunity to love , get to know, and connect to; one another. Sharing what you have to share , giving what you have to give to music, people, etc not only gets your message your art, your creations out there for everyone to experience , but it gives everyone , every musician, every one the chance to share what they have with the world.
I will buy vinyl off the internet, I will continue to seek out tracks that no one else has. I will order vinyl from other cats, other countries, even go over seas- just to have that 1 record to play and others to enjoy, BUT USUALLY WISH THEY HAD!.
I would not have a problem buying a ticket to a show. I may find a record one day that is yours and buy it for my own collection. I can purchase digital albums for my iPod via iTunes or snocap etc. Instantly own any album, CLick its there.
The fact that I first downloaded Namaquadisco years ago, gave me the life changing music I would have most likely not have been exposed to. By others sharing music files with me then , I learned about the artist, share and continue to share my knowledge to everyone I know now the same way it was shared to me. I love sharing music and music files I think its great karma and puts a smile on someone's face way off possibly on the other side of the world. That rules.
So, is that right? Fair? Is money the ultimate goal or is getting your work out to as many people as possible? If you have never made a dollar by selling music in the stores, but if you toured the world selling out show after show is that gonna pay your bills?
Simply this: the more people that hear your music THEN love your music and no doubt WANT your music.

Forget the kids, eh? The kids are the biggest portion of music consumers!
