I am tired of cable news and main stream media talking bad about Canadian health care! They are ALL DEAD WRONG and making up sh*t as the go along! Canadian health care is superior to US in my opinion.
Go read this link - it will broaden you mind about Canadian health care system. Have an open mind and do some research. I don't think Congress can imitate this system.
I am a dual citizen of Canada and the US. I am proud to be a citizen of both. I married my wife to become a US citizen because this is where she is from and I moved here to be with her. But I would gladly trade the health care I had at home in Canada with what I have now any day.
To back up my opinion, my uncle was diagnose with the same brain tumor as Kennedy had. And way before Kennedy was diagnosed with it. His doctor made the diagnose, and scheduled the surgery in less than a week. There's no waiting for care or surgery. The media here is spewing lies and myths about our system. He had his surgery and is now in remission and is doing great. And he's OLDER than Kennedy.
When I lived in Canada, I've never had any problems seeing a doctor and never had to wait for any kind of treatment. Especially for anything that is considered an emergency like surgery. Maybe for general care in smaller towns in Canada because they don't have access to many doctors as large cities, but that's the same even here in the US. You can choose ANY doctor you want to go to. Here in the US, i have to check with the doctor to make sure he takes my insurance, and i have PPO. Its not like that at home!
Please go read that article. It will give you a better understanding of how the Canadian system works. Yes it is paid for by the government, but most of the provinces (think them as states) are doing fine. Its how their government manages their budget. Don't let the media here blind you from the real truth. I get really offended when I hear them talk crap about Canadian health care... not just Fox, but CNN and the rest of the major media outlets!!
